About the Society of Student Geophysicists
The Society of Student Geophysicists is the Colorado School of Mines'
student chapter of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG). The
SEG is an international non-profit organization that promotes the science
and education of geophysics and its applications. Originally founded in
1930, the society currently has more than 26,000 members across 129
countries.
SSG exits to get students involved in networking with each other and
industry. Additionally, it serves as a means of organizing department wide
events and getting the students to experience membership in a professional
organization. Through SSG, the SEG provides many opportunities for
students to receive scholarships and find internships.
